Ghana Music Awards Is Always Not Competitive During Election Years – Gospel Musician Gifty Osei

Contrary to criticisms coming from some industry players that the 2017 nominees for Ghana Music Awards are not competitive, gospel diva, Gifty Osei, has intimated that Ghana Music Award is always not competitive in election years.

Speaking in a video interview with editor Nii Attractive (Mustapha Nii Okai Inusah) at the launch of the 18th edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards which was held on Friday, February 24, at the exquisite Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel in Accra, she said that every year, the organizers of Ghana Music Awards do upgrade themselves, but it’s a norm that in every election year, many musicians don’t release more tracks/albums; or don’t release at all!

This is because “in every election year, the attention is all on the politicians so if you release an album and you don’t push it hard, it becomes difficult for the album to make great impact; so many musicians decide not to release at all” she said.

Again, she mentioned that lots of musicians including herself are preparing to release their album. I’m 10 years in the industry. I’m going to release a new album” she added.
