As of now, Asantewaa has surpassed the 24-hour mark, and she is poised to reach the 48-hour milestone at midnight tonight, with just one more day left to shatter the existing record.
Journalist and Blogger Attractive Mustapha on the grounds reports that, the ambitious Ghanaian artist is determined to break the current Guinness World Record for the longest individual singing marathon, held by Indian Sunil Waghmare, who achieved the feat after singing for an astounding 105 hours from March 3 to March 7, 2012.
Commencing her marathon at exactly midnight on Sunday, December 24, 2023, Asantewaa kicked off the event with OSIBISA’s ‘WOYAYA,’ followed by two gospel songs. The marathon, spanning nearly five days until December 27, 2023, has seen her deliver a nonstop 4-hour performance. Asantewaa took a brief 20-minute break to change her costume before resuming.
Notably, the singer has committed to showcasing the richness of Ghanaian music to the global audience, exclusively performing Ghanaian songs throughout her record-breaking attempt. As she passionately stated, “this is a fine opportunity to sell amazing Ghanaian music to the world.”
With prominent figures from the political and entertainment spheres rallying behind her, Afua Asantewaa’s record-breaking journey continues to captivate the nation, leaving many eagerly anticipating her triumphant achievement.
