-

Nigeria police have arrested its officers attached to Grammy Award winner Burna Boy who were involved in a shooting incident at a Lagos nightclub.

The officers shot at Club Cubana in Victoria Island, Lagos on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, and are being investigated for their involvement in the incident, police said.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba who condemned the incident “in the strongest terms”, describes the circumstances surrounding the incident as unbelievable.

Police spokesman, CSP Muyiwa Adejobi in a statement said the IGP has directed the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Abiodun Alabi, to carry out a thorough investigation into the matter and forward his report as urgent as possible for further action.

Reports said the police escorts attached to Burna Boy shot a man who reacted when the singer allegedly made passes at his wife.

The shooting incident reportedly left two persons hospitalised with one needing a blood transfusion. The victims were identified as Irebami Lawrence and Tolu.

Reacting to the incident, Lagos State police spokesman Benjamin Hundeyin during the week said “I don’t have the details,” but “Investigation is ongoing.”

Burna Boy is yet to speak on the incident at the time of filing this report.
