Netizens Slam Sarkodie for Purchasing Akwaboah’s Album at a Mere 3000 Cedis”

Ghanaians on social media have criticized iconic Ghanaian musician Sarkodie for purchasing his former artist Akwaboah’s new album for 3000 Ghana Cedis.

Yesterday, at SOHO Bar at the Airport in Accra, musician Akwaboah hosted an exclusive album listening party for his latest release, titled ‘The Lighthouse.’ The event drew industry heavyweights, including Kwaisey Pee, Sarkodie, Nabil Alhassan, KOD, Andy Dosty, and others.

During the album auction, Sarkodie, who had previously signed Akwaboah to his SarkCess Music label and collaborated with him on several hits, acquired a copy of the album uploaded on a pen drive with a headset for GhC3,000.

This sparked concerns among attendees and fans who expected the affluent musician to pay more for the album.

Following the online news coverage, various social media users criticized Sarkodie, questioning the rationale behind buying the album for 3000 Ghana Cedis, equivalent to about 250 dollars, respectively.

One post from Aluta Baby, an active entertainment critic, captured by Blogger and Journalist Attractive Mustapha , expressed that buying the album for 300 dollars was disrespectful to Akwaboah, considering his past association with Sarkodie.

Another post suggested that this action reinforced the perception that Sarkodie is frugal, as he has been portrayed over the years, and isn’t inclined to spend money on others.
