Nadia Buari Raises Alarm After WhatsApp Username Variations Are Claimed

Ghanaian actress Nadia Buari has raised concerns after discovering that multiple variations of her name have already been taken following WhatsApp’s new username feature rollout.

The update, which is gradually being introduced, allows users to create unique usernames that can be used to connect with others without sharing phone numbers. The feature is designed to improve privacy and make it easier for users to interact on the platform.

However, Buari revealed that when she attempted to reserve her own name, she found that every variation she tried—including her full name, initials, and other combinations—had already been claimed by other users.

The actress expressed frustration over the situation, warning that the development raises serious concerns about impersonation. According to her, fraudsters could be rushing to secure celebrity-related usernames with the intention of deceiving unsuspecting fans.

She cautioned the public to be vigilant and verify the identity of anyone claiming to be her on WhatsApp or other social media platforms, stressing that impersonation could be used to scam or mislead people.

Buari’s warning adds to growing concerns about how new digital features may be exploited, as users race to secure recognizable names before the system becomes fully populated.
