Singer Sista Afia has disclosed that she once struck a male fan with a microphone, sending him to the hospital, after he fumbled her while she was making her way to the stage during a performance.
Speaking about challenges she has faced as a performer, the “Jeje” hitmaker said the incident occurred during a show where event organisers struggled to maintain proper crowd control.
She explained that as she made her way through a packed audience to perform, a fan forcefully grabbed her inappropriately.
“I hate it when people try to touch me when I’m going on stage, especially fans. One time, someone pressed me so hard—I think it was my front bit—that I lost it. The first thing I did was act to protect myself,” she said.
According to Sista Afia, she reacted instinctively, striking the man with her microphone. She claimed the blow was so severe that the individual was later taken to the hospital.
The incident, she noted, was never widely reported and gradually faded from public attention. She added that such situations highlight the need for stricter security measures and crowd management at entertainment events.
