There’s Nothing Wrong with Being Christian and Fashionable-Piesie Esther

Renowned Gospel musician Piesie Esther, the celebrated W’aye Me Yie hitmaker, recently opened up about her views on fashion and faith during an interview with Nana Romeo on Accra 100.5 FM’s Ayekoo Ayekoo.

The star singer, known for her soulful music and strong Christian values, discussed how her love for fashion has always been a part of her identity, influenced by her father, Rev Tony Asamoah Boateng, affectionately known as Apae.

In a heartfelt conversation, Piesie Esther revealed a personal moment when her child stumbled upon an old photograph of her, proving that she has always had a flair for stylish dressing.

“I understand fashion,” she stated, proudly asserting that her love for stylish clothing aligns with her belief that “God loves beautiful things.”

Piesie Esther emphasized that while the Bible teaches modesty, it doesn’t necessarily mean abandoning trendy clothing. “For me, I dress so when someone sees me, they would be moved to glorify God,” she explained.

The Gospel star shared that even in moments when she rushes out of the house without fully assessing her outfit, she feels a deep sense of responsibility.

“My conscience bothers me, and I can clearly see I’m not comfortable in the outfit,” she said, highlighting how her faith guides her decisions, even in matters of personal appearance.

The singer also touched on the use of makeup, acknowledging that while beauty is a gift from God, it can become problematic if used excessively. “Beauty is good. It is only when beauty products are used excessively that it becomes bad,” she pointed out, adding that she personally avoids heavy and flamboyant makeup.

Piesie Esther concluded her thoughts with a reflection on the divine, noting that even the Bible describes God in beautiful clothing. “There’s nothing wrong with being Christian and fashionable. Just don’t abuse makeup,” she advised, before playfully asking, “Look at me, am I not looking beautiful?”
