Tema Most Beautiful’ Beauty Pageant, Celebrating City’s Talent and Tradition

The organizers of Tema Media have officially launched “Tema Most Beautiful,” a beauty pageant aiming to showcase the cultural values of Tema city.

Their goal is to illuminate Tema, which has long been overshadowed by Accra.

Tema, the second-largest city in the Greater Accra region, is home to renowned personalities in Ghana’s creative industry, including Sarkodie, R2bees, Stay Jay, and Kwesi Arthur, among others.

“Tema Most Beautiful,” an initiative by Tema Media, offers women from Tema the chance to represent the city as its ‘Face of Tema,’ becoming ambassadors who promote the city’s essence.

Nathaniel Amoabeng Turkson, the Chief Executive Officer of Tema Media, announced that registration forms will be available for interested candidates from November 13 to November 25, 2023, via the website TEMAMOSTBEAUTIFUL.COM.

Auditions will commence on November 25, followed by the selection and grooming of 15 candidates. Turkson mentioned that subsequent eliminations will begin on December 9, after special tasks are assigned to the contestants.

The competition will eventually narrow down to eight finalists, judged based on their performances and the accumulation of votes throughout the process.

Regarding eligibility, Turkson stated in an interview with MX24 Tv that the contest is open to any woman aged 20 to 35 with ties to Tema, either through residence or education in the city.

The winner will gain the title of the “Face of Tema” and a host of rewards, including a new SUV, a cash prize of GHS 30,000, a trip to Dubai, iPhones, electronics, and more.

Mark Okraku Mantey, Deputy Minister for Tourism, Arts, and Culture, graced the event as the guest of honor.

In his address, he praised the initiative’s organizers and encouraged them to showcase Ghanaian culture, a valuable exportable asset.

He emphasized the significance of this initiative, noting how beauty pageants historically nurture talent for various industries like television, communication, and fashion design, benefiting corporate Ghana.

He also pledged the government’s support for this program and urged corporate Ghana to similarly endorse such commendable initiatives.
