Kofi Kinaata’s Accident Claims Life of Motor Rider, Injures Passenger

A tragic collision involving Ghanaian musician Kofi Kinaata’s vehicle has claimed the life of young motor rider Lawrence Sey and left his passenger, Andrews Ansah, critically injured.

The accident occurred on Sunday, September 22, 2024, when Kofi Kinaata’s Land Cruiser V8 allegedly veered into Sey’s lane, resulting in a devastating head-on crash.

Lawrence Sey was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital, while his passenger, Andrews Ansah, a senior high school student, suffered severe injuries, including two broken legs.

Eyewitnesses reported that the accident occurred when the driver of Kofi Kinaata’s Land Cruiser V8 left his lane and overtook another vehicle, colliding head-on with Sey’s motorcycle. “Lawrence was trapped under the car and it dragged him into a pit in the bushes,” one witness stated, adding that Andrews is currently receiving treatment at Afia Nkwanta Hospital.

Another motorcycle involved in the incident had three passengers who managed to evade disaster. Upon witnessing the accident, the rider swerved, allowing the passengers to jump off safely.

Initially, Kofi Kinaata claimed on his official X page that the motorcycle had rammed into his vehicle and that the two passengers were alive and receiving critical care. However, his statements have drawn criticism, particularly from Lawrence’s family, who expressed their deep upset over his comments.

Kofi Kinaata was traveling to an event in Nkroful when the accident occurred. Fortunately, he and his team escaped unharmed. This tragic incident has raised concerns about road safety, particularly regarding motorcyclists’ vulnerability in accidents.
