On the night of May 1, 2023, the stars literally fell down from the heavens and assembled at the 2023 Met Gala in honour of late designer Karl Lagerfeld.
Amongst the numerous was the ever-glamorous Kim Kardashian who paid homage to Karl Lagerfeld’s penchant for pearls which she fully drenched. Kim Kardashian arrived swathed in 50,000 pearls in a custom Schiaparelli gown that flaunted her hourglass figure.

“I thought, ‘What is more Karl?’ You know, the iconic Chanel pearls are what I always thought of. So we wanted to just be dripping in pearls,” Kardashian said of her custom Schiaparelli ensemble on Vogue’s live stream from the red carpet in New York Monday night. (Technically, the carpet was more of a rich cream colour.)

A tan corset was covered with many pearl strands, and other ones served as Kardashian’s full-length skirt. Some social media users compared the look to the nearly-naked photoshoot that Kardashian took part in during the first season of her reality show “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” despite the fact that it was widely praised as an elegant example of a trend popular among Gala’s invitees.

The Kardashian-Jenner family has frequently been at the Met Gala in recent years. Half-sisters Kylie and Kendall Jenner of the Kardashian family also attended this year. Under an oversized red and baby blue coat by designer Haider Ackermann, Kylie donned a bright red couture Jean Paul Gaultier gown.

“Karl’s been a hero of mine since I was 17 years old looking at Chloe collections,” Jacobs said on Vogue’s livestream during a later interview.

“He was like, to me, the true fashion designer,” Jacobs said of Lagerfeld’s “unbridled creativity” and disregard for limitations.

The Costume Institute Extravaganza, also known as the Costume Institute Benefit, is an annual fundraising extravaganza conducted in New York City for the benefit of the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The Gala is sometimes referred to as “fashion’s biggest night” and is widely recognized as the most elite and opulent fashion event and social gathering in the world.

The fashion magazine Vogue hosts the Met Gala[4], which is open to celebrities who are deemed to be currently signed to society in a variety of professional fields, including fashion, cinema, television, music, theatre, business, sports, social media, and politics.

The Costume Institute’s yearly fashion exhibit, which is housed on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, opens with the Met Gala, an occasion celebrated every first Monday in May. Numerous attendees are shown on the covers and inside pages of Vogue. The celebration of the Costume Institute exhibition’s particular theme each year establishes the tone for the evening’s formal wear.
