Jackie Appiah Nominated for Best Actress at 2024 Africa Movie Academy Awards

The Africa Movie Academy Awards on Wednesday, 2nd October, unveiled the 26 category awards celebrating the best of creativity in African cinema for 2024.

 

 

The event, which hosted top filmmakers, announced a list of films from across Africa’s filmmaking zones. Ghana’s most adored actress, Jackie Appiah, made the nominee list for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her performance in the movie Red Carpet.

 

 

The nomination unveiling was held at the plush Sheraton Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos, with renowned Nollywood filmmakers in attendance. The night featured a congratulatory message from the head of the jury, Dorothy Werner, to the nominees, while she articulated the need to celebrate African creativity.

 

 

Raymond Anyiam-Osigwe, CEO of the African Film Academy, the organizers of the African Movie Academy Awards, enumerated the events planned for the 20th anniversary and commended the partnership and support from sponsors, especially the major partner, the Lagos State Government, over the years. The activities include the AMAA Coffee Book Launch on 25th October, AMAA African Legend Night on November 1st, AMAA Meets Nollywood, and a Fashion and Exhibition Show. The AMAA Gala Night is scheduled for November 2nd, 2024.

 

 

The nomination announcement night was anchored by ace broadcaster Vimbai Mutinhiri of Arise News.

 

 

The Africa Movie Academy Awards is the most prestigious and credible awards platform for filmmakers in Africa.
