I will take your children to USA for 2026 World Cup if I become MP – Pius Hadzide, NPP Parliamentary candidate for the Asuogyaman constituency

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary candidate for the Asuogyaman constituency, Pius Hadzide, has pledged to help young people in his constituency travel to the United States for the 2026 World Cup if he wins the 2024 parliamentary elections.

Addressing supporters at a rally, Hadzide emphasised his connections with the sports ministry, which he believes will enable him to assist the youth in securing travel opportunities to America and beyond.

“Nananom, did you know that it takes 18 hours to travel from Ghana to Australia [for the 2018 Commonwealth Games]? Yet, I was able to assist some individuals in making this journey. The 2026 World Cup will be held in America, which is just a 7-hour flight from Ghana.

“If you, Nananom, want your children to go to America to work and send money back home, or if you’re a young person eager to explore abroad, I promise to support you when I become MP,” he stated.

During his tenure as a deputy minister, Hadzide faced a visa scandal related to the Commonwealth Games, which saw some Ghanaians posing as journalists. However, he was later cleared of any wrongdoing.

The 2026 World Cup will be jointly hosted by USA, Canada and Mexico.
