Christiana Awuni Claps Back at Portia Asare Over Claims of ‘Juju’ in Kumawood

Veteran actress Christiana Awuni has responded to claims made by her colleague, Portia Asare, regarding the decline of the Kumawood movie industry.

In a video shared on Instagram by entertainment blogger MariGyata, Awuni addressed Asare’s assertion that spiritual sabotage, commonly known as ‘juju,’ is responsible for the industry’s downturn.

Portia Asare recently made headlines when, during an interview with Ahodwo TV, she suggested that the internal conflicts and spiritual sabotage among Kumawood actors are to blame for the industry’s challenges.

She pointed out that hatred and a lack of unity have significantly affected the production and quality of Kumawood films.

“People are asking why Kumawood is dead. It is because of hatred! People are using spiritual means to sabotage their colleagues instead of loving and supporting each other,” Asare stated during the interview.

However, Christiana Awuni, a well-respected figure in the industry, did not hold back in her response. Speaking in Twi, she criticized Portia for her comments, questioning the basis for her allegations.

Awuni remarked, “Portia doesn’t like associating with people, so I don’t know what she has seen that influenced her to make that comment. She is the one who wants to collapse the business with the minor state that we are now managing.”

Awuni further expressed her disappointment, pointing out that Portia’s attitude towards her colleagues has always been distant. “No matter what, someone will hate you, so if you dislike people, what do you want them to do to you? Even when you greet her, the way she responds is different, unlike McBrown, Vivian Jill, and others who are lovely,” Awuni added.

The exchange between these two prominent actresses has sparked discussions about the state of Kumawood and the challenges it faces.

While Portia Asare believes spiritual sabotage is a significant factor, Awuni’s remarks suggest that interpersonal relationships and attitudes within the industry may also be contributing to its struggles.
