Ghana Bloggers Association Joins DUBAWA’s Election Information Literacy and Fact-Checking Training

In a bid to promote credible Blogging , journalism and enhance electoral integrity, members of the Ghana Bloggers Association recently participated in a two-day training organized by DUBAWA, in partnership with the Federal Republic of Germany.

The training focused on Elections Information Literacy and Fact-Checking, targeting bloggers, journalists, and social media influencers.

Held in Accra,the workshop underscored the important role of media professionals in fostering peaceful and transparent electoral processes.

Participants delved into several critical topics, including the ethical considerations and responsibilities of bloggers, influencers, and journalists in election coverage.

The sessions covered advanced digital tools for fact-checking, such as Google’s Fact-Check Explorer, reverse image search tools, video verification techniques, and DUBAWA’s chatbot for real-time verification.

In addition, attendees explored the impact of foreign influence and information manipulation on electoral credibility, learning strategies to identify and counter malign actors involved in spreading misinformation.

The training sessions were led by an array of seasoned professionals and experts, including Roselena Ahiable, Project Manager at DUBAWA West Africa, Stephen Tindi, Dr. Aurelia Avisi, Maxine Gloria Danso, Nathan Gadugah, Silas Jonathan, Tanko Zakaria Musah, and Dr. Affail Monney.

Representatives from the German Embassy also attended, reflecting the international interest in supporting Ghana’s electoral integrity.

This collaboration between DUBAWA and the Federal Republic of Germany signifies a progressive step toward empowering media influencers with the knowledge and tools needed to contribute positively to Ghana’s democratic processes.
