Skrewfaze opens up about losing everything, depression and family struggles

Jehoshaphat Kwabena Eshun, the celebrated Ghanaian hiplife musician better known by his stage name Skrewfaze, recently shared a deeply personal story about his struggles during a live TikTok session.

The veteran artist, who rose to fame with hits like “Gbalagazaa,” revealed the devastating lows he faced, including financial ruin, depression, and estrangement from his family.

“I lost everything. I was living in a single room,”

Skrewfaze shared during the emotional broadcast. “I know some people will say, ‘Why didn’t I save?’ Yes, I saved, but there is a way life will hit you, and no matter who you are, you can lose everything.”

Skrewfaze, who currently resides abroad, also disclosed how his challenges extended beyond finances. He recounted being abandoned by his family during his darkest moments. “My family members abandoned me. I was depressed, and even my wife didn’t want anything to do with me. She even prevented me from seeing my children because I made some wrong decisions and refused to listen to advice,” he said.

Skrewfaze’s revelation comes at a time when conversations around mental health, particularly within the Ghanaian entertainment industry, are gaining momentum.

Many fans have expressed their support, encouraging him to stay strong and sharing their own experiences of overcoming life’s difficulties.

As one of the pioneers of hiplife, Skrewfaze’s influence in Ghanaian music cannot be overstated.

Despite the hardships, Skrewfaze remains optimistic about the future and hopes his story will inspire others to persevere through life’s adversities.
