Tourism, Arts, and Culture Minister Calls Emergency Meeting with FOCAP Ahead of August 29 Picketing

The Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture has urgently convened a meeting with the Foundation of Concerned Arts Professionals (FOCAP) scheduled for August 29, 2024—the same day as FOCAP’s planned picketing.

This meeting is crucial as it addresses the urgent demand for the establishment of a fully operational Creative Arts Agency, including the appointment of a Board and Executive Secretary to oversee the sector’s advancement.

Despite attempts to reschedule the meeting for the day prior to the picketing, the Minister’s tight agenda left no alternative.

As a prominent advocacy group, FOCAP has confirmed its participation in the meeting alongside key allies from the creative arts sector who support the cause.

FOCAP’s leadership, including President Kojo Preko Dankwa, Vice Presidents Enock Agyepong and Mel Kwesi Davis, remain committed to the cause. They pledge to communicate the meeting’s outcomes and the next steps regarding the picketing to all supporters in the creative community.

FOCAP assures that their efforts will persist until a satisfactory resolution is achieved for the establishment of the Creative Arts Agency.
