Bawumia Unveils Ambitious Policies for Sports, Creative Arts, and Tourism

On August 18, 2024, NPP presidential candidate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia delivered a powerful speech during the launch of the party’s 2024 manifesto, highlighting key initiatives aimed at transforming Ghana’s sports, creative arts, and tourism sectors.

Speaking to a packed audience in Takoradi, Dr. Bawumia outlined a comprehensive plan to incentivize private sector investments in these industries.

Central to his vision is the introduction of tax incentives, including a flat tax, designed to encourage private companies to invest in the development of sports, tourism, and creative arts facilities across the country.

In a move that promises to position Ghana as a top destination for international travelers, Dr. Bawumia announced the implementation of an e-visa policy.

This policy aims to streamline the visa acquisition process, making it faster and more convenient for international visitors. Additionally, the NPP plans to roll out a visa-free policy for nationals of all African and Caribbean countries, further enhancing Ghana’s appeal as a travel destination.

The manifesto also revealed plans to support Ghanaian content creators through the establishment of a streaming and digital management platform.

This initiative, set to be developed in partnership with the private sector, aims to empower content developers in the creative arts industry, providing them with greater visibility and revenue opportunities.

To further support the creative community, Dr. Bawumia proposed the creation of a Travel Protocol Service (TPS).

This service will facilitate international travel for artists, performers, and other creatives, enabling them to honor performances and engagements abroad with ease.

Dr. Bawumia’s manifesto launch signals a strong commitment to the growth and development of Ghana’s sports, creative arts, and tourism sectors, promising a future where these industries can thrive and contribute significantly to the nation’s economy.
