Gideon Aryeequaye Appointed Acting Executive Secretary of Creative Arts Agency

Gideon Aryeequaye has been named the Acting Executive Secretary of the Creative Arts Agency (CAA), succeeding Gyankroma Akufo-Addo, who has led the institution since its inception in 2020.

His appointment is seen as a strategic decision to advance the Black Star Experience agenda, which seeks to enhance Ghana’s cultural, artistic, and tourism sectors. Aryeequaye is expected to bring his extensive expertise to the role, having previously served as Deputy CEO of the Ghana Tourism Development Company (GTDC) under former President John Dramani Mahama.

The Creative Arts Agency serves as a regulatory and developmental body for the creative industry, providing an institutional framework for its growth. The position of Executive Secretary, appointed by the President, is responsible for overseeing the agency’s daily operations and reporting to the board, as outlined in the Creative Industry Act (1048).

Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, Dzifa Abla Gomashie, has emphasized the need to reassess the agency’s operations to align with national tourism and creative sector goals. During her vetting by the Appointments Committee on January 22, 2025, she underscored the importance of a comprehensive review to ensure the agency effectively contributes to the country’s cultural and economic development.
