Renowned Ghanaian actor Mawuli Semevo is currently fighting for his life in the hospital after suffering severe burns in a devastating fire that engulfed his home on Friday, February 7.
According to reports, the veteran actor was asleep when the blaze broke out. He was rescued and rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment.
Medical sources indicate that the fire has left him with burns covering 44 percent of his body, along with a respiratory injury that has affected his breathing.
The cause of the fire remains unknown as investigations are ongoing.
In response to the tragic incident, Beyond Burns International, an NGO dedicated to supporting burn survivors across Africa, has launched a donation campaign to help cover Semevo’s medical expenses.
Judith Cato Addison, the Executive Director of Beyond Burns International, visited the ailing actor at the hospital on Saturday, February 8, and described his condition as dire.
“Guys, this is very serious. From his head to his leg, everywhere caught fire. He’s lost all his hair, and his face is completely bruised,” she said in an emotional video posted on Facebook, urging the public to contribute towards his treatment.
She further emphasized the severity of the situation, stating, “Beyond Burns International received an SOS about this unfortunate incident. We came here today, and veteran actor Mawuli Semevo’s life is hanging in the balance.”
Fans, colleagues, and well-wishers are rallying behind the ailing actor, with many calling for urgent support to ensure he receives the necessary medical care.
