Marrying One Woman Is Not African– Reggie Rockstone

Reggie Rockstone, affectionately known as the “Hiplife Grandpapa,” sparked a cultural debate by claiming that monogamy is not inherently African but rather a foreign concept imposed on the continent through Westernisation and Christianisation.

“I know it’s not African; I could tell you that for sure. It doesn’t seem to apply to us,” he asserted. “We’ve been so Christianised and Westernised now. But I really believe that it doesn’t really move with our culture. I mean, it was imposed on us.” He said on In a candid interview with Class TV.

Despite his remarks, Rockstone, who is renowned for his unwavering commitment to his wife, clarified that his monogamous lifestyle is a reflection of his personal values rather than societal or cultural expectations.

“The reason why I’m a one-woman man is my personality. You know, it’s too much headache for me. I like my peace of mind,” he explained.

The Hiplife pioneer, who has been a vocal advocate for African identity and heritage, used the platform to highlight how cultural norms have evolved over time under external influences.
