Ghana’s aviation sector is set to experience a significant boost as Relax Airlines gears up to commence operations in July 2025, offering passengers enhanced travel options on key domestic routes.
The airline will initially serve three major regional airports—Kumasi, Tamale, and Takoradi—connecting them to the nation’s capital, Accra. This move is expected to increase competition in the domestic aviation space, improve connectivity, and provide travelers with more affordable and efficient services.
Currently, the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), the sector’s regulator, is inspecting Relax Airlines’ first DH8 Q400 aircraft and its Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) in Lithuania. Once the inspection is complete, the aircraft will be flown to Ghana to kickstart operations. Relax Airlines plans to grow its fleet, with two additional DH8 Q400 aircraft expected to join in the near future.
The entry of Relax Airlines into the market is anticipated to transform Ghana’s aviation landscape, making domestic air travel more accessible and efficient while contributing to the country’s economic development.
With the airline’s focus on safety, reliability, and customer satisfaction, industry stakeholders and travelers alike eagerly await the rollout of this new service.
