I Can End Careers, and I Could End Yours -Shatta Wale Warns Black Sherif

Ghanaian reggae and dancehall icon Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, has issued a cautionary message to fellow musician Black Sherif, warning that he could jeopardize his career if mutual respect is not maintained.

The bold statement came in a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter) on November 4, 2024, in response to recent social media exchanges between the two artists.

Shatta Wale’s message, directed at Black Sherif, unfolded after the “Second Sermon” hitmaker shared a photo of Shatta Wale on social media, making remarks about the dancehall musician’s fashion style.

The post appeared to be a reaction to Shatta Wale’s recent comments on Black Sherif’s dressing style, made during an appearance on the Bant, Rants, and Confessions podcast on October 31, 2024.

On the podcast, Shatta Wale suggested that Black Sherif, one of Ghana’s fastest-rising stars, could improve his appearance to better match his growing brand.

In his post on X, Shatta Wale addressed Black Sherif directly: “Black Sherif, you are new in the music industry. If you have heard them saying I have said something about you, you won’t go and watch the podcast and know the good things I said about you. Blacko, this is the same thing Sarkodie did; now people think he is my enemy. Go and ask; I can end careers, and if you don’t take time, I would end yours.”

While Shatta Wale’s initial podcast comments were reportedly a mix of constructive criticism and praise, Black Sherif’s Snapchat post suggests he may have taken offense.
