Zambia and South Africa makes Top 5 Tourism destinations for 2018

Travel opens a world of possibility and finding new and interesting places to visit is plenty. Here are 5 places that are among the best places to visit this year.

Malta

Why:This European country is an archipelago in the central Mediterranean between Sicily and the North African coast. Known for its historical sites, including, megalithic temples and the Ħal Saflieni Hypogeum, a subterranean complex of halls and burial chambers dating back to 4000 B.C, Malta is great for the explorer.

What to do: Go scuba diving in aquatica, play with the children at Independence Gardens in Sliema or take a Malta Day Tour.

Lisbon, Portugal

Why: Known as Portugal’s cool and hip capital, Lisbon is a coastal town worth seeing. From imposing São Jorge Castle, the view encompasses the old city’s pastel-colored buildings, Tagus Estuary and Ponte 25 de Abril suspension bridge, the sites are bound to keep you mesmerised.

What to do: The National Azulejo Museum displays 5 centuries of decorative ceramic tiles and is worth seeing. If you want to enjoy some sun and the beach, take a drive to the see the Atlantic beaches, including Cascais, just a 40 minute train ride away.

St Helena Island

Why: St. Helena island is a remote volcanic outpost in the South Atlantic Ocean.The island is known as one of the most remote in the world and the place where the British exiled French Revolution leader, Napoleon Bonaparte, in 1815. It is expected that more travellers will be visiting the island this year following the arrival of commercial flights to the island.

Zambia

Why: Zambia, in southern Africa, is a landlocked country of rugged terrain and diverse wildlife, with many parks and safari areas. The country is a bucket list destination for many international travellers, who want to visit for its big 5, national parks and waterfalls.

What to do: No visit to Zambia is complete without seeing Victoria Falls, the largest waterfall in the world and one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. In Lusaka, see the Freedom Statue that commemorates Zambia’s struggle for independence, Munda Wanga Environmental Park and the Lilayi Elephant Nursery cares for orphaned elephants.

South Africa

Why: No list will be complete without South Africa on it. South Africa is filled with all sorts of fun, from beach getaways, mountain retreats and bush breaks. With its 9 provinces, travel will never get boring and there’s always something worth seeing. Visitors love the beach, safari drives and it’s proudly South African cuisine.
