Where is the $12.7Million parliament approved for quarantine – Okudzeto Ablakwa asks

Former Deputy Minister of Education and incumbent Member of Parliament for the North Tongu Constituency, Hon Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has questioned the rationale behind government charging a high amount of money from Ghanaian citizens stuck outside the country due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Speaking on the hottest afternoon political show Inside Politics hosted by Mugabe Maase on Power 97.9 FM, Monitored by Ghanaian Journalist and Blogger Attractive Mustapha Nii Okai Inusah , Hon Okudzeto Ablakwa said he was in Parliament during the approval of the World Bank support towards the handling of the pandemic.

He explained that there was an underlining item of 12.7 million Dollars for quarantine, so he has been asking what that money has been used for.

He suggested that the government should open up the options and add other hotels instead of limiting the hotels to just two thus Kempinski Hotel and African Regent Hotel.

“During humanitarian crisis, the government must not involve in profiteering and commercialization. It’s not good to select hotels closer to you, but rather opening up for competition will drive down the price so that the prices of hotel accommodation for such purposes will be reduced”, the former Deputy Minister added.

Hon. Ablakwa states that the National Democratic Congress has demonstrated that it cares more about the country’s development and its citizen’s health because all former presidents’s elected on the ticket of the party invested in the health sector towards proper health care for Ghanaians.
