Webinar on National Travel & Tour Month scheduled for July 15 – Aug 15, 2020

In a bid to help restart domestic tourism, as practically all travel was halted with the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, four themed webinars on Women, the Youth, MICE and the leisure tourism sectors will herald the first National Travel & Tourism Month Ghana, as a virtual travel event scheduled to run between July 15 and August 15, 2020.

With the crippling hospitality industry making moves to restart tourism, Graphic has teamed up with agents of the travel and tourism industry to launch this virtual month long series of events, which is designed to take place entirely online as part of the annual activities of the ‘Do Ghana’ travel movement, a crusade with interventions to foster domestic tourism.

Under the theme “See Ghana – the place you think you know!”, activities of the NTTMG will comprise events that includes a photo exhibition featuring images by such travel photographers as Yaw Pare, Emmanuel Bobbie, Nana K Duah and Steve Ababio.
In addition to a discounted shopping experience at various participating stores that sell locally made products known as “Shopping Circus”, there will also be a street food festival and a “Be a Tourist in your own Backyard” day which will see a plethora of tours from a number of participating domestic tour operators.

“The idea is to encourage Ghanaians to participate more in domestic travels, and help restart tourism in a responsible manner, save jobs, protect our heritage and build our economy,” said PaJohn Dadson, convener of the commemorative month.

An idea whose time has come, the National Travel & Tourism Month Ghana is spearheaded by Graphic Traveller, the pullout section in Daily Graphic dedicated to the travel and tourism ecosystem, and produced in collaboration with Bentsifi, tourism curators and storytellers.

“Above all, we hope that this eTravel fair will help with the efforts to restart the local travel industry, and help the local tourism players get back on their feet,” said PaJohn.
