VGMA Saga: Shatta Wale told me controversies sell; He can’t quit – Obuor

The President of the Musicians Association of Ghana (MUSIGHA), Bice Osei Kufuor popularly known on stage as Obuor, says Shatta Wale’s extreme passion for controversies in his music carreer was the cause of last Sunday’s disturbances at the 20th edition of the VGMAs.

He says the Dancehall Artist, Shatta Wale once told him bluntly he cannot quit controversy, rivalry and the rest because that is what sells his music.

“We’ve invited them on countless occasion to intervene in the growing feud between them,especially Shatta Wale when he started these rivalry with Samini, Sarkodie and others. However for him, he’s made it clear that its part of his music besides he entered music to make money, so he cannot stop it. And you could see clearly that how Ghanaians have cheered him on amidst his controversies is giving him the energy to go on that angle in his music. And I’m sure nothing can stop him from needless controversies and rivalry.,” he told host Kwaku Owusu Adjei on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.5 FM.

According to Obour, inasmuch as the two should be condemned for their actions, Shatta Wale ought to be blamed highly for the provocations that led to the chaos on the VGMA stage.

Both artistes spent the night in Police cells following their detention by the Accra Regional Police Command over the gun incident on the VGMA stage Sunday.

The programmed was marred by a brawl between the two musicians after Shatta Wale and his followers stormed the stage when Stonebwoy was declared as Reggae Dancehall Artiste of the Year.

Police say charges are yet to be preferred against the two since investigations are ongoing.
