Tourism Authority to organise Republic day cruise on Volta Lake

The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) in the Volta Region in collaboration with the Kpando District Assembly is organizing a day’s fun trip on the Volta Lake.

The cruise, which is scheduled for July 1, will begin from Kpando Torkor and end at the Agordeke beach, offering sightseers the opportunity to visit some unknown tourist sites in the Region.

Mr Alexander Nketia, Regional Manager, GTA, Volta, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview that the ferry trip would help develop, market, and promote tourism in the Region, whiles utilising the tourist sites and culture potentials in the Region.

He said the trip would also help generate revenue for the GTA, the Kpando Municipal Assembly and the locals who would be allowed to trade on the ferry.

Mr Nketia said the Region was doing great in terms of attracting tourists on daily basis, but a lot more needed to be done to safeguard the rich cultural sites in the Region.

He said his outfit would soon embark on an executive cruise of the Volta Lake involving managers, chief executive officers and stakeholders to comprehensively help promote tourism activities, to ensure that the numerous attraction sites in the Region were properly utilised.

Mr Nketia called on chiefs, institutions and stakeholders to help uncover the rich and immense culture of the Region.
