Celebrated film maker and Director of Creative Arts, Programmes and Projects at the National Commission on Culture, Mr. Socrate Safo has stated that there is no Juju when it comes to movies.

Speaking at the African University College of Communications on “The Lost Works of Quakes” moderated by a lecturer of the University Nana Achampong,he said that producers have to develop a perfect strategy to make their movies or art works attract higher demand and successful market.

According to him, people mostly produce a song or a movie before they think of a promotional plan but with his experience, it is always to precede the release of an art work by creating awareness and selling it even before it enters the market.

Mr Socrate Safo who used two of his popular movies, “Sakawa boys and Hot fork” as a case study said he developed workable strategies which worked perfectly and put the movies on high demand.

“On the day we were supposed to release Sakawa boys we created a gimmick that some people have hijacked the movie so we pleaded with them that we will be releasing it the next day. And before we opened the shop the next day there was a long queue”

Talking about Hot fork , he confessed that it was a movie he shot in Berlin University with the students but when he got to Ghana he studied the environment and decided to reshoot it with local actors with “fork” instead of a “knife” because “Hot fork” will sell better considering the environment.

In a separate chat with Attractivemustapha.com, he said that “It’s not magic , if you go to any juju man to get you juju to make a hit in the movie industry you might get it wrong

” I don’t know about musicians but for film making it’s the strategy you will use”. He added.
