Sarkodie featured by Bob Marley & The Wailers on ‘special version’ of ‘Stir It Up’ out Jan 20

Ghanaian legendary rapper Sarkodie has earned another landmark in his career as he has become the first West African native to be featured by the iconic musicians Bob Marley and The Wailers.
Come Friday, January 20, 2023, “a special new version” of ‘Stir It Up’ will be out with Sarkodie’s rap verse on it.

Wednesday, January 18, the official Instagram (IG) account for Bob Marley, managed by his estate, broke the news with siren and music emojis.

In text, the account announced: “A special new version of ‘Stir It Up’ is coming this featuring Ghanaian artist@Sarkodie! Pre-save the track today at link in bio.”

An official response by Michael Owusu Addo, alias Sarkodie, was also attached.

“What a way to kick start this year!!! Definitely one of the highest moments in my career/life…,” the response read.

According to Sarkodie’s reaction, “the team at Island Records: [Music Consultant]@akosuas_[Artiste Manager]@Jaykjsand the Marley family,” made the feat possible.

He thanked them “for getting me on this amazing project by the legend#bobmarley…” and calling it “such a blessing,” he counted it an honour “to lay my vocals right next to the original vocals of the Gong…”

The IG post was made with a snippet of Sarkodie’s rap verse on the original song.

‘Stir It Up’, an international smash single by Bob Marley & The Wailers was on the ‘Catch A Fire’ album from the 70s.
