NPP primaries: Confusion at Asante Akyem South as Obour loses after recounting

Contradicting results emanating from the Asante Akyem South Constituency indicates that former MUSIGA president Bice Osei Kuffour popularly known as Obour has lost his parliamentary bid despite initial reports that he won.

Reliable sources say that the incumbent Member of Parliament Hon. Kwaku Asante-Boateng objected to the previous results that led to a recounting.

After the recounting, Hon Kwaku Asante Boateng obtained 360 votes, Obour who is the former president of MUSIGA obtained 296 votes whiles the others shared a meager 30 votes.

The contest in the Asante Akyem Constituency was a straight fight between the incumbent and the former MUSIGA president but sources say it was very peaceful.

Some entertainment pundits and political observers including Ghanaian Journalist and Blogger Attractive Mustapha earlier predicted that Obour will lose based on some facts.

Voting in some constituencies have been characterized with violence as supporters of various aspirants have engaged in verbal and physical assault of opposing sides.
