National Commission on Culture speaks on Wear Ghana Month and a book launch (Pictures +Video)

The National commission on culture has outlined some projects it will be embarking on including launching of a book under the theme Creative Arts Back2School program and Wear Ghana exhibition.

In a press conference addressed by the Executive director of the Commission, Madam Janet Edna Nyame and Socrates Sarfo , the Commission mentioned that the “Wear Ghana” exhibition which begins today 23rd March, 2018 at Circle and end on Sunday.

They also said that people who have contributed extensively to Ghanaian fashion will be honored as part of the program.

According to Madam Janet Edna Nyame, they believe the exhibition will serve as an avenue to display various Ghanaian fabrics and designs which will offer people the opportunity to experience a different fashion taste.

Speaking about the #CreativeArtsBack2School program, Madam Edna Nyame said National Cultural Commission of Ghana, under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, with support from the Ministry Of Education, the Ghana national Theatre, and Adwinsa Publications are sponsors of the #CreativeArtsBack2School program.

She explained that ,the #CreativeArtsBack2School initiative is a strictly online and ‘door to door’ social responsibility mass sale project, geared towards stocking up all public and school libraries with published collections of Adwinsa Publications of drama stories titled 1st National Drama Festival books.

The circulation of this Senior High School students according to her is for purposes of achieving the main essence of instituting the National Commission on Culture.

“The funds generated from the sale shall be used to restore the erstwhile Inter schools Drama Festival, now revamped into The Ghana Inter-schools Theatre Festival (GITFest). GITFest include poetry and story-telling”, she added.

The Commission on Culture hopes the initial sale and circulation of hard copies of the drama leisure books nationwide will set the tone for our students to have access to stories themed on socio-cultural issues that bother on the restoration and preservation of our rich and unique Ghanaian Culture.

A copy of the book will be sold to adults at Ghc30.00 whilst students are privileged to purchase at Ghc20.00.
