Kwaku T recounts near-death fire accident in South Africa

Ghanaian rapper Kwaku Tutu, known in showbiz as Kwaku T, says he is recuperating very well and is back to Ghana for good after being involved in a near-death fire accident in South Africa.

The rapper, who was based in South Africa, ended up in a coma after the fire accident at his residence.

The 2007 Ghanaian representative at the Big Brother Africa reality show recounts to JoyNews’ Doreen Avio how much of ‘a matter of life and death’ he faced during the period.

“I was in a coma for a while, it was a couple of days, I think it was about three or four days. So, I woke up, they were telling me what day it was, what time it was, what year it was and I never thought that would be me. They were thinking about amputating my arm…it was life and death, I lost my voice, I couldn’t talk,” he recounts.

The rapper then revealed that his return to Ghana “is a journey back to love” because he thought it was necessary to be back home in order to heal emotionally and physically around his family.

“I left for greener pastures” was the former Big Brother housemate’s joked response when he was asked his reason for leaving Ghana for South Africa.

He, however, explained that he left primarily because he wanted to experience a new environment.

“You know, you stay in a place for too long, you get familiar, and you know they say, familiarity breeds contempt…I just felt that I needed to go and reboot and just redo and just experience something different,” he explained.

Kwaku T says he will be “dabbling in a lot of things” now that he is back.

Amongst these plans are imports, exports, as well as a venture into pharmaceuticals.
