Kelvyn Boy wins ‘Unsung Category’ award

Kelvyn Boy new act affiliated to Burniton Music Group has been announced winner of the Unsung Category Ahead of the most prestigious music awards scheme in Ghana.

Many tipped Dhat Gyal to win but KelvinBoy has been adjudged the winner of the unsung category.

This year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards Unsung Category is sponsored by Closeup who are giving essentially young people the opportunity to break the barrier into main stream music.

According to Charterhouse, this partnership is greatly desired as it will enable a richer experience for participants.

Real name Kelvin Brown is a Ghanaian Afro-pop/dancehall artiste who started music in 2008 whiles singing in church. The 26-year-old singer, songwriter grew up listening to Fela Kuti, Bob Marley and Stonebwoy which he says influenced his music.

His style of fashion is a synergy of maturity, class and trendiness which he believes makes him accepted by all class of people, which is both young and old.

Kelvin boy has a unique musical style derived from his desire to sing and compose lyrics with everything happening around him. His soulful side, which he adopted from regularly singing in church, makes his voice sound melodic.

He, however, hopes to develop his music career around these various genres, afro-beat, Afro-pop, reggae, dancehall and highlife. Set to put his lyrics and voice to the world, Kelvin looks to soar higher in his music career.

The VGMA comes off this Saturday 14 April at the Accra International Conference Centre. And as usual DJ Black will stir affairs on that night.

With this declaration, Kelvin Boy will mount the stage with ace artists like Sarkodie, Kinaata, Stonebwoy and the likes.
