Hong Kong offers 500,000 free flight tickets to the world in bid to boost tourism; here’s how to get them

Hong Kong is ready to welcome the world back and boost its tourism sector. Well, after three years of COVID isolation, Hong Kong leader pitched free flights and positive publicity to resurrect the once-vibrant global hub. Known by the name Hello Hong Kong, this rebranding campaign is an effort to tell good stories, where 500,000 free air tickets were announced for visitors.

The world got hit the COVID-19 pandemic back in 2020, and almost all the industries and companies faced losses as work came to a standstill. One of the most affected industries during the pandemic was the travel and tourism industry. Now, as the industries are slowly getting back on their feet, many countries have also come up with schemes to boost the travel and tourism sector of the countries.

One such country is China which has been affected the most during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, now, Hong Kong is ready to welcome the world back and boost its tourism sector. Well, after three years of COVID isolation, Hong Kong leader pitched free flights and positive publicity to resurrect the once-vibrant global hub.

Known by the name Hello, Hong Kong, this rebranding campaign is an effort to tell good stories. During a speech to business and tourism heavyweights, Chief Executive John Lee announced 500,000 free air tickets for visitors. The Chief also promised “no isolation, no quarantine and no restrictions” and the giveaway will open in March, with another 80,000 tickets up for grabs to residents in the summer.

How to get Hong Kong free air tickets
To avail themselves of the free tickets, the carriers will hold promotional activities such as lucky draws, buy-one-get-one-free offers and games to be won starting in March. The aim is to complete the distribution in six months.

The giveaway will first target potential tourists in Southeast Asia, including Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia and Singapore, before expanding beyond the region.
