Ghanaian musician Charles Essien has criticized Ghanaian event organizers for not giving much prominence to traditional music genre.

According to him , the traditional music is not being acknowledged this days, but it’s a type of music genre that the world like .

Speaking to Ghanacreativearts.com after a massive performance at Kwahu Easter festival. He said that it’s on record that , Ghanaian musicians who , do traditional music go far than those that do the hip-life , highlife etc.

“I can mention names like King Ayisoba, Sherifa Gunu , who travels more often to perform on international stages , whiles our Hiplife and high-life musicians don’t get those opportunities “ he said .

Again he added that its time event organizers and awards schemes have to give prominence to the genre since that’s what the international world are looking up to .
