Ghana lacks training in film making – Dzifa Gomashie

Former Deputy Minister for Tourism, Abla Dzifa Gomashie has indicated that lack of adequate training in the film industry in Ghana has led to its inability to progress and thrust forward.

It is very unfortunate she says, that a country like Ghana which was once ahead in filmmaking is now behind in that regard.

Gomashie revealed that people from different continents come to Ghana to learn about filmmaking in order to enhance their skills in filmmaking at the film school National Film and Television Institute, (NAFTI) to be educated and to learn some skills on how to be good filmmakers in the movie industry but she described such people as being more knowledgeable and skilled than filmmakers here in Ghana which is disheartening.

“People are going ahead of us, people back in the day were in Ghana at NAFTI to learn about filmmaking have now taken over the filmmaking” she noted

Speaking at the maiden edition of the MultiChoice launch Talent Factory Initiative she applauded MultiChoice Africa for their tremendous work; introducing this new initiative in the filmmaking industry.

She, however, stated that aspiring filmmakers should utilize the platform provided, advised them to develop the talent and become professionals, also be ready to pass on whatever they were taught at the MultiChoice Talent Factory (MTF).

She ended her speech by stating that”If we have many cooperate bodies coming to our aid like as what MultiChoice has done, I’m sure this industry will pick up its glory again and shine brighter in Africa”.

Personalities who were present at the MultiChoice Talent Factory Academy were, Former Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie Lydia Forson, Shirley Frimpong-Manso, Socrate Safo, Giovani Caleb, D J Premier, and others.
