Ghana beat South Africa to advance to playoffs for Qatar 2022 World Cup

The Black Stars of Ghana have booked their place in the playoffs for the FIFA 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Ghana nailed the Bafana Bafana of South Africa 1-0 on home soil on Sunday night, November 14, 2021 to advance to the playoffs stage.

Both Ghana and South Africa tied on points in Group G – 13 points each – but the Black Stars progressed on one goal difference after captain Andrew Ayew scored a 33rd minute penalty on home soil against South Africa.

Ethiopia placed third in Group G with 5 points while Zimbabwe occupied the bottom slot with 2 points.
