Deputy Minister for Tourism chickens out of NPP primaries

Member of Parliament(MP) for Gushiegu Constituency in the Northern region of Ghana and the Deputy Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Dr. Ziblim Iddi has withdrawn from the Parliamentary Primaries of the New Patriotic Party-which has been scheduled for June 20.

The fist time lawmaker who was seeking for another tenure at the legislature said he has decided to leave the race after a self-introspection and broader consultation.

“I arrived at this painful decision after very broad consultation and deep introspection. I would be glad if you could kindly withdraw my application and delete my profile on the Notice of Poll and ballot paper for the election,” his letter to the General Secretary directed.

The NPP Primaries originally scheduled its Primaries for April 25 but had to suspend the Primaries indefinitely after the President o Ghana place some restrictions on public gatherings as part of measures to fight the deadly coronavirus.

The Party was afforded an opportunity to reschedule the exercise which will take place in Constituencies where the political party has sitting Members of Parliament to June 20.
