Catherine Afeku joins Ghanaians at opening of 2017 Kwahu paragliding event

The excitement that comes with soaring up high in the air, well that was the mood for several paragliders at the opening ceremony of this year’s Kwahu Easter paragliding event.

Several revelers from all walks of life flocked the Odweanoma Mountain to have a feel of the paragliding experience at the 12th edition of the Kwahu Easter paragliding festival.

Tourism Minister, Catherine Afeku Chair for the occasion also joined in the fun as she interacted with patrons at the event.

Being her first time to witness the festival, she commended organizers and indicated her ministry’s efforts to partner with organizers to expand and make it a national event which will take place in virtually every region in the country. She added that plans are underway to provide training for local indigenes who can pilot patrons in subsequent festivals.

18 Ghanaians registered for the paragliding exercise. Security personnel were also present to ensure optimum security and prevent lawlessnes particularly from unregistered riders.

Members from the Ghana Aids Commission were also there to educate patrons on the importance of safe sex especially during this period.

The event which has been formalized by the Ghana Tourism Authority is largely patronized by several Ghanaians and tourists annually.
