Award Winning Production Designer, Prince Kojo-Hilton, Is Now Chairperson Of Ghana Association Of Visual Artists (GAVA)

Multiple award winning artist, Prince Kojo-Hilton, is now the Chairperson for Ghana Association of Visual Artists (GAVA) – Greater Accra chapter.

The hardworking talented-artist who vied for the fiercely contested Greater Accra Chairperson position for GAVA, finally won after the election and was sworn into office as the official Chairperson of the association on Thursday, 30th March, 2017, at the Accra Arts Center.

The other elected executives are: Mr. John Ayi Hyde – Vice Chairperson, Patrick Ametepe – Secretary, Mr. Isaac Awule Addico – Treasurer, and Mr. Nii Tackie-Yarboi as Field Organizer.

The Greater Accra Regional Director of the association, Mr. George Oppong, gave a word of advice to the new executives to work diligently and foster unity and love among themselves. The outgoing Chairperson, Mr. Nana Otuo Acheampong, also wished the new executives the best in their tenure of office.

Giving his inaugural speech, Prince Kojo-Hilton said his vision is to advocate for respect and appreciation for visual artists in Ghana – especially in the second cycle educational institutions. Also, he hinted of a project titled Aladdin.

“My next project is going to be a theatrical design for stage play titled Aladdin to be performed by Association International School at National Theater soon” he said. Ghana Association of Visual Artists is an association that seeks the welfare and promotes works of Ghanaian visual artists.

Prince Kojo-Hilton studied Visual art in senior high school and later enrolled in a Fine Art Diploma program with ICS (International Correspondence Schools USA) to broaden his scope of creativity. He is also a product of NAFTI (National Film and Television Institute), where he majored in Art Direction and Production Design.

Due to his artistic ability, he had the opportunity to enhance his career at the Technical Department of the National Theatre of Ghana in Scenic design, Props design, Makeup effects, Set design and Construction etc.

Kojo-Hilton has exhibited his talents in both local and international productions as an Art Director, Set designer and a Production designer. He is also a Graphic Artist and a Story board illustrator.

He is the creator of most of the wonderful Effects and Designs in our Ghanaian movies such as house burning effects, Car crash, TV commercials, Stage events and many more. He is a freelance Production Designer.

Kojo-Hilton has worked with most of the renowned multi-media firms and film production houses in Ghana. He is the founder of Support Arts Foundation, and the of CEO of Hilton’s College of Creative Arts.
