Arts and Tourism Writers Association of Ghana to conduct re-run For PRO position

The Electoral Commission that conducted the elections of Arts and Tourism Writers Association of Ghana on 16th December 2017 , has set Saturday, 23rd December, 2017 for Public Relations Officer Position.

Arts and Tourism Writers Association of Ghana (ATWAG) elected its new executives on Saturday, 16th December, 2017 but the candidates for the office of the public relations officer position had the same number of votes which has pushed the Association to organize a re-run for the two contestants.

The Commission (EC) was made up of Mr. Arnold Asamoah-Baidoo (Chairperson), Mr. Halifax Ansah-Addo, and Mr. Osafo-Anthony,

In a statement signed and copied to Ghanacreativearts.com by Arnold Asamoah-Baidoo(Chairperson, ATWAG Electoral Commission), The EC said that they appreciate the professionalism and enthusiasm shown by voters and that they are also grateful to all media houses, Including , Peace FM, Kasapa FM, Happy FM, and art pressure group, FOCAP, for giving the election publicity as a show of solidarity.

“On behalf of ATWAG, the EC is also thankful to Director for Creative Arts, Programmes and Projects at the National Commission on Culture, Mr. Socrate Safo, who was present to observe the election, and promised of his outfit’s ever readiness to support the association whenever we call on them”.

“The official voting rules and regulations of which members are abreast of, still stands. The EC, once again, implore members to avail themselves for voting come Saturday, 23rd December, 2017” The EC stated

Background:

The first general elections of the Arts and Tourism Writers Association of Ghana (ATWAG), was held on Saturday, December 16.

The elections took place at the car park of the Academic City in Accra between 10am and 2pm.

Executives were elected for the positions of President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Organiser, Public Relations Officer and Research Officer.

William Asiedu, the Managing Editor of the Daily Heritage, William Asiedu who contested for the position of President unopposed, was unanimously endorsed by the members for the position.

Columnist for Graphic Showbiz, Francis Doku, beat broadcaster/writer Livingstone Lotsu for the Vice-President position with 70% votes .

Ghanacreativearts.com’s Mustapha Ayinde Nii Okai Inusah popularly known as “Attractive” won the organizer position over Flex newspaper’s Isaac Kwaku Kpogeh with 87.5% votes .

Mic Yamoah of Flex newspaper, Frank Kwabena Owusu of Hitz FM, who also stood unopposed as Secretary and Treasurer respectively, were given the nod.

David Mawuli of Pulse.com.gh also beat Vivian Abigal Oppong, a student of Ghana Institute of Journalism for the Research Officer position with 55% votes .
