Akufo-Addo is new chair of ECOWAS

President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has been elected as the new Chairman for the Economic Community of West African States(ECOWAS)

The President of Ghana was elected on Monday September 7 at the ongoing 57th ECOWAS Summit, which is being held in Niamey, capital of Niger, the Ministry of Information.

A statement from the Information Ministry announcing the feat said “President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has just been elected as the new Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), at the ongoing 57th ECOWAS Summit, which is being held in Niamey, capital of Niger”.

The President left the shores of Ghana on Monday, 7th September 2020, to lead the Ghanaian delegation to the 57th Ordinary Session of the Authority of ECOWAS Heads of State and Government, in Niamey.

He is in the company of the Finance Minister, Governor of Bank of Ghana and other government officials.
