African-American Cultural Arts Festival celebrates diversity

Diversity was celebrated during the annual African-American Cultural Arts Festival at Booker T. Washington Park Saturday afternoon.

The event invited people to learn about African-American art, clothing, and history with live music and food truck.

For the past 30 years, organizers have been hosting the festival in Charlottesville.

Page Hill, one of the people attending the festival, said it’s all about celebrating diversity and welcoming everyone to learn about African-American culture.

“It is an African-American culture arts so that’s the lens we look through and that’s the center,” Hill said. “We invite everyone to come and listen to the music to understand where the gospel and jazz comes out of African culture.”

Hill said the festival will continue next year.

The festival also included a community health fair.
