Stop Pointing Fingers, Start Helping – Reggie Rockstone on Kwadee’s Struggles

Hiplife pioneer Reggie Rockstone has weighed in on the ongoing conversation about the condition of veteran musician Okomfour Kwadee, calling for collective responsibility rather than blame.

Kwadee, who has battled personal and health challenges in recent years, has been the subject of public concern, with many criticising organisations such as the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) and the Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMRO) for allegedly neglecting him. However, in a passionate Instagram post, Rockstone dismissed the notion that Kwadee’s plight is solely the industry’s burden.

“I’ve seen some talk on Twitter and here and there, and it feels like people are pointing fingers at the music industry, saying it has to do something for him. But you, the public—what are you doing besides pointing fingers and talking?” he questioned.

As the architect of Hiplife, Rockstone emphasized that helping Kwadee should not be limited to industry players but should also extend to fans and the general public. He highlighted his own efforts in assisting people in need, urging Ghanaians to show love and support beyond social media debates.

“For years, this man made beautiful music for you. If anyone should be emotional about his situation, it should be you,” he stressed.

Rockstone also disclosed that efforts to support Kwadee are ongoing, though the situation is more complex than it appears. He encouraged those who truly care to take action in meaningful ways.

“Prayers—that’s a good start. Money, if you’ve got it. Love from the heart—anything,” he urged.

Kwadee, known for timeless hits like Abrantie and Ofie Nipa, has spent time in rehabilitation centers and is currently with his family in the Upper East Region.
