Blakk Rasta Celebrates Mahama’s Victory, Reflects on Vow to Leave Ghana If NPP Had Won

Renowned radio presenter and reggae musician, Blakk Rasta, has shared his relief and excitement following the victory of John Dramani Mahama in the recently concluded presidential elections. Speaking on Joy FM, Blakk Rasta revealed how deeply disenchanted he had become with the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), vowing to leave Ghana permanently if their candidate, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, had won the polls.

“We’re just looking for change, and change is here. I was so fed up. I told everybody that should these guys win the election again, I would be out of this country,” he said.

Blakk Rasta disclosed that a month before the elections, he had already begun preparing for a possible relocation. “I was out of the country. I was in Jamaica, I was in America, and some other places, just planning a very fluid exit should they win,” he revealed.

Drawing parallels to Nigerian literary icon Wole Soyinka’s declaration to destroy his American passport if Donald Trump won the U.S. presidency in 2016, Blakk Rasta emphasized that his promise to leave Ghana was no mere rhetoric. “Just as Wole Soyinka vowed, I would have stuck to my words by relocating from Ghana,” he asserted.

The outspoken presenter accused the NPP government of subjecting Ghanaians to harsh economic conditions and maintained that Mahama’s victory represents a fresh start for the nation. “The NPP has plunged the country into very harsh situations, and Ghana needed a break from that government,” he said.
