Kumawood Icons and Media Legends Honored at the 2024 3G Media Awards in New York

The 13th edition of the prestigious 3G Media Awards, widely recognized as the “mother of all GH-USA Awards,” captivated audiences with a spectacular showcase of excellence on October 5, 2024.

Held at the UYC Banquet Hall in Yonkers, New York, the event featured a beautifully decorated venue, and stage effects that elevated the experience.

The night brought together stars from various fields, including Kumawood actor Bill Asamoah, Bright Kankam Boadu, his partner Yaw Agyeman Prempeh, aka Oliver Khan The Ship Dealer, veteran broadcaster Dr. Joyce Akumaa Dongote-Padi, aka Akumaa Maame Zimbi, and seasoned actress Vivian Achor.

The ceremony opened with remarks from prominent dignitaries. Mr. Tony Opoku, CEO of TCs Energy and Chairman of the Board of Directors for the 3G Awards USA, made his first public address, expressing enthusiasm and a commitment to supporting the initiative. H. E. Dr. Charles N. Ntiamoah-Mensah, CEO of 3G Media Grpup and the event’s Executive Producer, reflected on the growth of the awards since its inception and promised even more exciting developments for future editions.

Chairman of the occasion, Nana Kwaku Duah, CEO of AB African Market & Fabrics, praised Dr. Ntiamoah-Mensah, affectionately known as Mr. CNN, for his dedication to the African community.

Among the dignitaries in attendance were H.E. Dr. Devon Bannister, CEO of Mac/Ban Arts, and H.E. Professor Adda Okika, Rector of Ruth Sisters Fellowship International, both representing the United Nations.

The event was co-hosted by celebrated media personality Abena Kyei Boakye and New York’s top MC, Ageorgia. Producers included Bernard Aduse Poku (VP), MC Papa Linc, and Hon. Rev. Dr. Counsellor George C. Lutterodt, who also serves as the 2nd VP and Country Director for Ghana and Africa.

The evening honored numerous achievers across various fields. Notable awards included the U.S. President’s Volunteer Service – Lifetime Achievement Awards and the Danny Glover Humanitarian Awards, presented to personalities such as Ms. Abigail Ashley of Despite Media, Bill Asamoah, Nana Kwaku Duah, and Ms. Catherine Cudjoe. Dr. Ntiamoah-Mensah himself received the U.S.
President’s Gold Medal Award, along with a citation from Bronx Borough President Hon. Vanessa L. Gibson, presented by Ms. Cudjoe.

Humanitarian Excellence: Akumaa Mama Zimbi Foundation

Movie Excellence: Kalsum Sinare – 3G Movie Actress of the Year, Bill Asamoah – 3G Best Male Actor of the Year

Since its inception in 2009, the 3G Media Awards has honored individuals across diverse industries, including entertainment, media, business, and politics. Last year’s keynote speaker, Ghana Tourism Authority CEO Mr. Akwasi Agyemang, lauded the awards as the premier African diaspora recognition platform founded by a Ghanaian.

With Dr. Ntiamoah-Mensah and his dedicated team continually raising the bar, the 3G Media Awards has solidified its place as a beacon of diaspora excellence. The nomination process for the 14th edition is set to open on November 1st, promising even more anticipation for the next chapter in this celebrated tradition.
