The annual National Homowo Festival is organized by Gadangme associations of
Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Charlotte NC, Atlanta GA, Florida, Cincinnati OH,
Toronto CA, Washington Metro and Chicago. Saturday, September 21,2019.

The event which is marked with display and ritual amid traditional flourishes of
drumming and dancing, is booked to take place at the Voice of America Park 7850 VOA
Park Drive West Chester ,OH 45069 from 11am to 5 pm

The festival traces back to centuries, and is celebrated by the people of Ga-Dangme to
commemorate the arrival and settlement of their ancestors in Ghana from their ancient
migratory journeys. The name, HOMOWO, literally means “hooting at hunger”.
HOMOWO has now become the major annual festive season among the Gadangme
community both in Ghana and in the diaspora. Participants of this year’s Homowo
Festival are delegates from nearly all Gadangme Associations and affiliates in
continental North America including Canada, Europe and Ghana.
