19th Ghana Music Awards to hold music seminar on 12th April

Ghana’s Biggest Music Festival, the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, is set to host Sam Onyemelukwe, Managing Director, Trace Anglophone, and Michael Ugwu, Sony West Africa General Manager, in an insightful music business seminar on the theme, “Help! I Want To Go International- Music Beyond Borders”

The Ghana Music Awards is well known for its entertainment value, and for 18 years it has celebrated and given platforms to deserving artistes. However, the award scheme deems it necessary to go beyond entertainment to providing opportunities for industry players through relevant networks, information sharing and skill acquisition. Thus the music seminar.    

This year’s edition of the music seminar, is slated for Thursday 12th of April, two days before the main awards night, and it is dedicated to helping artistes learn the smarts about going international, succeeding and maintaining relevance. To this end, the Managing Director, Trace Anglophone, Sam Onyemelukwe will be speaking on “Music Videos As a Marketing Tool” and Michael Ugwu, West Africa General Manager for Sony, will be sharing industry smarts on the topic, “Help! I Want To Go International”.

Stephen Nana-Osei Boadi, the Chief Enabler of Enable Growth Consult will be delivering a talk on “Designing An Online Brand To Drive Your Music Across Borders; The SME Sales Manager of Vodafone, Mr Jerry John Quarshie will speak to the topic, “Monetizing Intellectual Property Digitally”; and Kwame Kusi, COO of Dusk Capital will share tips on “Preparing Your Finances For The Life After”.

The event will come off at the Ballroom of the Movenpick Ambassdor Hotel in Accra. Participants are expected to arrive at 8:30am for the program to commence at 9am. Participants who would like their music videos to feature on Trace TV as reminded to come along with their videos for consideration. While the event is free for all, seats are limited. In line with the theme, “Music Beyond Borders”, some international collaborations will be announced during the course of the year. Other engagements of international relevance will be embarked on to push Ghanaian music beyond borders. Hopefully, these should help support the industry, while building momentum for the 20th anniversary celebrations in 2019.
